Atomic Structure of a Silicon Sample
This is not related to the sites content but I liked to share it with you out there, because you can see the atomic structure of a silicon sample at the nano scale. Which is something you do not get the chance to see on an ordinary working day. The accelerating voltage was in excess of 200KV and the magnification was x300,000. The sample is of a silicon wafer with a 6 degree surface offcut to create atomic steps. Thanks to my dear friend Vineet Sivadasian for providing the image and Dr Richard Beanland for his support to produce this magnificent image.
