Shock Waves Simulation
The Mach Number flow regimes spectrum, with identification
Gas dynamics is something the engineer encounter while simulating fast flows. As visible for this F-18 breaking the sound barrier.
Another example
Chose under basic settings the : ideal gas option.
Then select the Total Energy Model: This models the transport of enthalpy and includes kinetic energy effects. It should be used for gas flows where the Mach number exceeds 0.2 or where compressibility effects, such as acoustic waves, are important. Should be used for low speed liquid flow when the specific heat is not constant . Viscous work term can be included.
Then select the Reynolds Stress Model:
Then in the inflow section the supersonic option will be activated.
Solver Control 1:
Solver Control 2
You will see in the data analysis section the Mach number option becomes available
