Flow Around Buidlings
The high pressure regions in red create mean that a convective flow is accruing and more heating or cooling is required for that specific surface. Meaning in summer due to forced convection occurring on a surface more cooling energy is required to cool the rooms in that area. While during the winter the cold force convective air will cause more heating to be consumed in the high pressure regions.
That’s the reason why usually parks are located in the blue region, you don’t want people disturbed while walking their dogs, or water jets blown on every body in the park . Setting up building in rows reduces the wind intensity.
The arrow shows the blowing wind direction. The blue region on the right hand side represent the occurring boundary layer. While the blue regions near the surface are the stagnation regions due to surface roughness.
