AutoCAD
During the summer of 2004 I was encouraged by university friend to take a CAD modelling course. There I was introduced to the best joyful course teacher Eng Bashar Sheik Al Ard (المهندس بشار شيخ الأرض).
I am always indebted for his efforts and encouragement, and will never forget his sense of humor. Lots of ready AutoCAD models I did several years ago during the period of 2004 and 2007 are available to download. To access these models click on the right hand side logo. The models are composed of lots of machine parts modeled individually. From spherical ball bearings, cylindrical ball bearings, bevel gears, straight gears, worm gears, helical gears, bevel gears, bolts, screws, universal couplings, flexible couplings, chain couplings, pulleys, chain drives, sprockets, gear boxes, oil seals...etc. Some bigger projects are also provided from a car engine, jet engine, ........etc. |
The following picture gallary highlights some of the modelling projects that i have worked on.
Videos of the models available on my YouTube Channel.
Descriptive Geometry
I need to mention to get the grips of design the student must be exposed to a module which is not taught any more called descriptive geometry. The reason for adding this section here because I always used to see that descriptive geometry if taught in a proper manner through showing students its power of creativity. It provides you with skills to know how to draw designs in a 3D approach.
I used to like AUTOCAD for its strong relation of its provided tools with descriptive geometry once the teacher shows the power of the links between AUTOCAD and Descriptive Geometry miracles would emerge.
The following channel is helpful for the student : https://www.youtube.com/user/ahmedelhanboushy
I know it is in Arabic, I will look later for an English source if found.

This book is recommend to refresh the descriptive geometry principles.
Theory and Problems of Descriptive Geometry by Minor C Hawk. These can be of help to you when you work with AutoCAD or other modelling software. This subject is not taught anymore in engineering degrees. That is disappointing because this topic can be of great assistance in really developing your artistic skills especially if the tools taught in it are perfected. |
